(and it being the weekend) is having an excuse to not do anything productive. this morning i went and took the practice gre exam and completely bombed. stupid me didn’t have any breakfast, just coffee. the only food i brought with me was a banana, and that sure as hell wasn’t enough to get me through until well past noon. needless to say, throughout the test i got shaky and fuzzy headed and slightly sick. :\
after the practice gre, went out to the ramen shop and inhaled a bowl of kimchee ramen and some delicious gyoza. it had been too long since visiting the ramen shop. after ramen came tokyo! on blu-ray and some much needed ginger/lemon/honey infusion for my throat. all in all, i have to say tokyo! was…ok. the second film just about ruined it for me. all the dialogue in the language nobody understood without subtitles….wtf. seriously, wtf. it was many many minutes of painful sitting.
so after movie, i took a nap. woke up and ate more noodles…took a shower…and then i thought i would watch another movie, and then decided against it. thought i would catch up on season 3 of 30 rock…but then thought perhaps i would like to finish reading the first wreauththu book but then got sidetracked by the internet.
while on the internet i came to realize scribblenauts had been leaked onto the interwebs. my god…the game is great. the tutorial was kind of slow and long and i thought the rest of the game would follow in the same fashion. boy was i wrong. this game is FUN. FUUUUUUN. and i made a cthulhu! only it attacked me and i died, so i ended up riding a unicorn instead.

at some point, some time ago, i was rooting around the internets for info on the watchmen movie. a couple of weeks ago i got a phone call from brian at gofobo.com telling me i had won a prize in the watchmen sweepstakes and that he had sent me an email. i vaguely remembered entering this sweepstakes and i searched around on the internet until i finally found it. turns out i won the fifth prize package which includes ALL of this stuff:
- WATCHMEN: THE FILM COMPANION by Peter Aperlo (Soft cover)
- Watchmen Soundtrack CD
- Women’s Tee
- Men’s Tee
- Cap
- Tattoo
- Button
- Condom
granted most of it will probably sit somewhere on the shelf unused and whatever…but hey, free crap is FREE crap right?
so thanks gofobo.com for sending me all of this stuff. i might wear the ladies tee, and i will most likely read through the film companion.
all the other stuff…who knows. but i appreciate you picking me to win.
i’ve been told for quite some time to go see this movie. i’ve been told for quite some time how great this movie is by several people. they were all right. i should have watched this movie much sooner.
as with any movie i watch by myself it took a few days to get through. it’s always amazing to see what other people go through (even if it is only a movie) and the fact that the guy refused to give up finding his lost love and trying everything he could to be with her…totally made me cry.
some of the scenes were really tough to watch. :\ i suppose it falls in with the whole realism thing. but…everyone should watch it. seriously.
the watchmen movie is coming out this weekend and i am so effin excited! watchmen movie at the imax is going to be an amazing experience.
i’ve been following the progress of the movie through blogs and even with the watchmen iphone app…which btw brings together all of the great behind the scenes videos.
review will be coming this weekend!
i received the fall from netflix on blu-ray. but i’m not really here to talk about the fall. it actually took me three tries to get through the damn movie because i fell asleep twice. it was really pretty to look at though.
anyway, after having the fall for almost two weeks and school getting on crazy on me, i pretty much forgot about all the other stuff in my queue. debs was next on the list and it showed up in my mailbox a couple days ago.
i couldn’t remember what the movie was about and i didn’t get a whole lot from the short synopsis on the sleeve…except that it was some sort of spy movie. ok…
so i pop it in before bed thinking i’ll watch it for just a few and wind down. the first few minutes of the movie (well, the whole movie i guess) is a bunch of ridiculous campy spy spoof. serious. i remember thinking to myself, wtf was i thinking when i queued this movie up. honestly, i couldn’t imagine why i would want to watch this movie at all. then the joke about mixing french and english (frenglish) came in and i busted up laughing.
this movie has some pretty awful acting. the story is absolutely ridiculous. and at the same time it was totally cute and hilarious. whoever the lady is that was playing lucy diamond is super hot and the whole awkward hermit wanna be a pirate thing was even better! and there were some damn good lines in the movie that just made me start laughing really loudly while half asleep.
i would classify this under, pretty entertaining when there is nothing better on and would probably watch it again, if it were on tv, and there was nothing better on.

when choosing a movie based on the ‘wow’ effect through high def, it’s important to remember you will want something that will also be entertaining. otherwise, after the wow factor wears off in twenty minutes…you have nothing else to keep your interest.
i chose two movies through netflix to get in blu-ray. the fall and national treasure. i decided to have national treasure come first because i figured a fast paced action fluff would keep my short attention span in check much better than the fall would.
the day after it shipped i decided i couldn’t possible wait another day for the movie to show up in my mailbox and i trekked down to the blockbuster and got national treasure: book of secrets. yes, i did watch them out of order. but, it’s like the mummy movies, you don’t need to see them sequentially to appreciate them.
that being said…
the stories were absolutely preposterous and total cheese, but i enjoyed almost every minute of it. it awoke that little kid inside that wants to be a treasure hunter using all kinds of cool gadgets only dreamed up in the line of spy work. not to mention the history nerd factor was super hot.
following the group, uncovering clue after clue, doing things that didn’t make sense AT ALL (speaking purely from the science viewpoint), was a pretty fun ride. i don’t think these will be movies i ever watch again, but i don’t feel like i wasted a few hours of my life
i broke my bedtime enforcement rule for the past two nights to watch the two movies. i think it was worth it, even though i was late to work today. oops.
