made it out to the west coast finally. had some el pollo loco for dinner and grabbed a drink at an irish pub in the middle of little mexico. lol. the hotel room isn’t bad…the wireless could use some finesse. no one can seem to connect to it through windows. oops.
gotta get back to the robot.
thursday was spent at sea world. like the entire day. from 11:00 am until 8:30 pm. it was super fun. we only waited in one long line throughout the entire day and the best ride of all had no line so we rode it twice. i had almost forgotten how great the animal shows are and dolphins are super freaking cute.
taryn and i bought matching shamu shirts and matching souvenir cups and asked strangers to take our pictures together.
pics!
today was a lazy day. we actually didn’t do anything until early evening where we went to the silver medal award banquet. it was a bunch of account executive advertisers schmoozing with other account executive advertisers and drinking mojitos. it was held at the san antonio museum of art, which looked amazing and i wish i could have wandered around, and the food was pretty delicious. delicious salad, delicious paella (with some seafood i didn’t feel comfortable eating), and a tres leches cake i couldn’t eat cause i’m fucking allergic to milk. we headed down towards the riverwalk but taryn and i were both pretty exhausted from doing nothing all day and then having to socialize so we just left. home is good.
pics from the last few days are here. it’s a shame i couldn’t take a billion pictures at the water park cause it would have been super fun.
l33t rainbow roflcopter recording in a few. whoo!
monday: visited the cove for lunch (car wash+laundromat+bar/live music venue+restaurant) for lunch and then visited a super huge market called h.e.b. and topped off the evening with a short trip to sea world. we walked around the ENTIRE park and rode on 1 rollercoaster. we’ll go back for the summer nights again later this week. when we got back home we sat on the couch and pigged out like little piggy pigs.
tuesday: wake up pretty early and spend 8 hours at the water park. this water park is huge and amazing. the water rollercoasters are super intense and i am tuckered out. of course we decided to get bill miller’s bbq and ATE IT ALL.
now i cant get up off the couch.
tomorrow will be more relaxing. and i will post pictures.
lunch with the family, san antonio zoo, swimming, and harry potter.
pics here.
it’s 7 pm and so very very hot.
i almost didn’t make the flight to san antonio because united downsized their plane at the last minute and they didn’t have enough seats! jerks.
i am officially a black lantern!
rather than work on some robot code i’ve given the old blog and photo gallery a super makeover. you know, something to keep in time with the whole web 2.0 business. still not quite ready to start pulling from and posting to all of the social deals at the same time, but i did get a lot done.
i didn’t realize just how behind i was in software. i was SEVERAL VERSIONS behind on wordpress and even more on coppermine. unfortunately, coppermine doesn’t seem to be getting any easier or prettier with the themes so i scratched it for zenphoto.
first off, new wordpress if fucking slick. i cant believe how much has changed. well, i guess it has been two years, but still! as a person that doesn’t really know php or javascript, or css for that matter, having all these new plugins and themes are fantastic! well, so far i discovered a plugin that will enable posts via email, and thus, posts from my phone. the only problem is when i send a picture message it splays verizon crap ALL OVER. there should be a way to keep it from doing all that but i need to play around with it some more. postie if you are interested. it’s pretty cool. it has an option to skimp out on the cron jobs if you don’t have access to them, but i couldn’t seem to get that to work….so i just have a cron job pulling stuff down every five minutes.
next up, zenphoto! having used coppermine for SO LONG i was a little hesitant to try out any new photo gallery software. i put in sooooo much time creating my categories, picking out a theme i could work with, setting up all the files and albums…you get the idea. imagine my surprise when i discovered how awesome zenphoto can look AND it has plugins! it takes a little longer to load pics, but i’m ok with that because unlike coppermine, it seems to change the photo size on its own. i can finally delete all the “normal” and “thumbnail” pics that were taking up god knows how much space! even better, uploading stuff through ftp ALSO configures the album. put picture files in a folder you want your album name to be and BAM! all done. you even have (easy to navigate and see) sub-albums, which is a super plus for me. i always thought the coppermine themes made it difficult to see albums that contained sub-albums because they were just links. not to mention editing is SUPER EASY and you don’t have to wade through a bajillion sub menus. hooray!
alright, it’s about that time i should be sleeping. eep!
